good evening, i'm jeff abel. abell. and i'm karen parks. tonight, the eyes of the world are on aurora colorado. just under 48 hours ago, a gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of the dark night rises, killing 12 and wounding 58 more. more. today, police were finally able to get inside suspects apartment which, they say, was designed to kill..... sandra endo has a look at this tense saturday in colorado. colorado. the technicians did a marvelous job. they went to the next ied and/or iid filled with an unknown substance. they had to attack a triggering mechanism and they did that very skillfully.-nats- authorities called in about 100 law enforcement officials for the investigation.they gathered outside of james holmes' apartment saturday. what you need to understand is this trip wire was set up to clearly detonate when somebody entered that apartment and it was set up to kill that person.

the aurora community is in shock after the suspected gunman opened fire during a movie screening of "the dark knight rises" early friday morning.12 people died -- and nearly 60 hurt.three service members were among the victims -- including john larimer -- who died in the rampage.he joined the navy last year.alex sullivan was also shot and killed.it was his 27th birthday.some of the shooting victims looked back on the horror from their hospital beds.the wound is somewhere around here. and, you know, just a few millimeters there and centimeters in...i don't think i would have left the theater.i watched two shots. he shot once and it just lit up the theater. then, he cocked and shot again.and, i just had my face down in the ground. i stayed as still as i possibly could and i prayed. he fired off a couple more rounds and then he left. police arrested holmes at the scene.he's scheduled to appear in court monday.--sandra live

tag-- a steady stream of people continue to come here in front of the movie theater to pay their respects at a makeshift memorial that's been created.the city of aurora is planning an official vigil tomorrow evening. reporting from aurora, colorado, i'm sandra endo. tonight, the arapahoe county coroner released the names of the 12 people who died in the movie massacre. massacre. the victims range from six year old veronic moser, whose mother was also critically injured to 51 year old gordon cowden was also killed in theater nine. police say all of the victims received direct gunshot wounds from a high-powered weapon. we've posted the complete list of the victims on our website.... one of the dead was an aspiring broadcaster who had just survived another shooting in canada. canada.jason " one of the sweetest people you ever met just a great heart all around.." around.." jessica ghawi was inside the theater with her friend ábrent lowaká when her life came to an end. before escaping ... álowaká called ghawi's mother.... describing the nightmare of how he and ághawiá were shot. he

explained to ághawi'sá mother how she was screaming from the pain of a bullet wound and how moments later another bullet struck her in the head...killing her. family members say they just cant make sense of what happened. " i mean it just goes to show it takes just on idiot. to really ruin 12 amazing you know potentially world changing positive forces in this world.. so ..no i mean i think anger will come." come."ghawi was a former intern at our sister station in san antonio, texas. 3 accused killer james eagen holmes will make his first court appearance on monday..... monday..... he's been assigned a public defender to represent him. holmes has yet to be charged but, at mondays hearing, a judge is expected to advise him why he's being held and the conditions for his detention. the first legal questions in the case will likely surround his competency to stand trial.....and the possibility of the death penalty. one of the first things people aak after a tragedy like the one in colorado occurs.. could it happen here.

police in dallas, texas want to know who left a 3- year-old boy to die inside a hot daycare van. van. authorities found the child unconscious yesterday. . the van was parked outside the daycare center. temperatures in dallas reached a high of á105 degreesá yesterday. police say the childs death could have been prevented.
